This renovation is an exercise in making one small change to transform a space.

The existing kitchen cabinets and fridge created an unwelcoming 22” threshold between the kitchen and dining room. Opening up the wall (which had enclosed a pocket door) was a simple solution with no structural implications but a huge impact on visibility and functionality.

Expanding the doorway allows both guests and hosts to freely move between rooms and what had been a cramped kitchen feels nearly open plan.
