The details of this remodel reinvented key existing moments from the rest of this midcentury home while infusing new life and materials for its next generation. By gutting the builder-grade cabinetry, the galley kitchen was recreated as if it were an integral part of the original home design and layout.

The material palette of rust-red marble, clear maple trim, off-white cabinetry, and stainless steel accents form a unique partnership of comfortable luxury and commercial-grade minimalism.

The prep side of the galley features Rojo Alicante marble countertops and a widespread chrome faucet paired with a stainless steel sink. The marble top was specifically selected by the owner for its color, synergy to the existing copper vent hood, and distinctive veining. The reverse “cooking bank” features a custom stainless steel bench top and an integrated steel backsplash with radii ledge. Above the splash, white, square 2×2 backsplash tiles match the new powder room and provide a timeless backdrop and counterpoint to the off-white cabinetry. Among the matte white tiles, a matte-white CP1 wall sconce designed by Charlotte Perriand provides accent lighting. Mirror-finished stainless steel spherical cabinet knobs from Fort Standard dot the drawer fronts and form cohesion to the stainless countertop, sink, and the stainless Subzero, Wolf, and Cove appliances.

The compact powder room was refreshed with a wall-mount version of the same widespread faucet along with a custom triangular vanity in Rojo Alicante inset with a round undermount basin.

Vertically-installed nickel-gap shiplap lines the sunroom hall and terminates at the existing brick dining-room fireplace. A massive custom floating bench in oak pairs with the dk3 Gather Dining Table beneath a classic PH5 Louis Poulsen Pendant.

The midcentury window wall, that affords views throughout the home, features unique maple trim-work that was exactingly copied at the newly enlarged pass-thru to the kitchen and paired with new maple flooring throughout the renovation.
