The studio is constructed of Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) and was designed for a poet and writer based in the Twin Cities. Originally, we were commissioned to design a full 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ADU but through the design process the studio became the most enticing and transformational added program.

The interior face of the SIP is a Low-VOC 3/4″ plywood creating a simple structural system and the finished interior.

The exterior pine rainscreen is finished with a black pine tar and generous gapping for passive moisture management.
